Text to Act is an excellent way to engage your donors over text messaging. With this feature you can quickly register new Contributors (or locate existing ones already in the system) and send them a link to complete your desired action.
Upon sending the reserved keyword to our Shortcode Number, 61094, contributors will be automatically searched based upon phone number to see if they have already registered, otherwise it will ask contributors their First Name and Last Name, and create a new Contributor ID for them in the event.
Finally, a custom message will be sent to the Contributor. See Configuring the Final Action below for more information.
Reserving a Keyword
- You can reserve a keyword for your event via your AES representative who will work with you to ensure your Text to Act keyword is unique.
Assigning a Keyword to an Event/Campaign
- Once you've secured an unused Text to Act keyword, it will become avaliable for setup and message customization in the Messaging tab of Auction Conductor, as seen below in the upper right hand side.
Reusing an Existing Keyword for a New Event
- Once your first Text to Act keyword has been set-up, you will have access to that keyword for 12 months.
- If you wish to reuse an existing keyword for a new event within that 12 month period, you can deactivate it from your previous event and re-assign it in your new event.
- After 12 months, any new events will require the purchase of a new Text to Act keyword.
Configuring the Final Action
- Upon getting your keyword set-up, you'll be able to configure and change the final message sent after confirming the guest's information.
- You are able to tie in direct Smart Links to the Microsite, Mobile Bidding App, or specific pages, such as DONATE.
- Contributors will automatically be assigned a bidder number, opted-in to SMS alerts, and can be sent custom Smart Links to automatically log them in when viewing the Microsite or Mobile Bidding App.
- You can also choose whether or not to Require an Email since we will automatically record their phone number as a method of contact.
Use Cases
- This can prove an excellent way to quickly register Contributors for your event and provide them with their bidder number and subsequent smart links.
- You can advertise your event with a simple "Text _____ to 61094" , allowing Contributors to register directly from their phones.
- If Contributors have already registered, they can use the same text code to search for their account information and provide them with their bidder number and custom links.
- You can additionally use this feature for a Text to Donate segment of your event, and have guests follow their link to be automatically set up to donate.
- You can insert a SMART LINK to a specific item or predetermined donation level.
